We're Number One! Wait, What?

I was a little surprised to see Boston listed as America's top summer vacation spot. Here's the reasoning behind the ranking:

Boston appeals to travelers of all types come summertime, with average temperatures in the 60s and 70s. Fenway Park welcomes baseball lovers, the Freedom Trail invites history buffs to a scavenger hunt of historic sites and Little Italy and Faneuil Hall Marketplace beckon to foodies. Visitors can also check out numerous breweries or plan their vacation around one of several festivals held over the summer.

I love Boston and I think everyone should visit at least once, but I wouldn't say it's the first city that comes to mind when planning a summer vacation. I'd also like to call shenanigans on the average temperature listed here. July and August are hot and humid as hell. Cape Cod and the islands are probably a better summer vacation destination with cooler weather than the city and beautiful beaches. I would suggest flying into Boston, spend a day or two in the city and then rent a car and drive down to the Cape. Now that's a good summer vacation.

Some news

I haven't been very good at updating this blog but I have a good reason. I've been promoted at work. I'm now a paralegal and the office manager. I've been trying to catch up before my replacement starts and her first day is Monday. I'll be heading into the office tomorrow to work on the massive amount of filing that's been piling up and finish moving 11 years worth of stuff to my new desk. I've thrown out quit a bit but there's still a lot to go through. I should have the office to myself so I plan on putting on some music and plowing through it. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Fajitas and 'Ritas was disappointing food wise but the night was saved at Papagayo and the Last Hurrah. There was a bathroom ghost and Chrissy Metz from This is Us!

Friday night was New Politics at the Paradise with Fiona. The band was awesome, the crowd was annoying. Get a room folks. Lil Anne joined us after at T's then we ended the night at the Model. Venga Boys, Robyn and dancing happened. I need to go back.

My only plans for tonight involve the couch.

I think I finally found a good Chinese take-out place in Brighton. Thank you Gourmet Garden. The struggle has been real.

Ladies Vegas trip is officially booked! We're staying at the Linq. Is it June yet?

Today is my Friday. Date night tonight, sleeping in tomorrow, New Politics Friday night. Let's hear it for the weekend!

A&W Root Beer

Sugary confession time. I've been on a root beer kick lately. Not just any root beer will do. I need my A&W.

I've tried many other brands of root beer but they're just not for me. I never drink Barq's. My root beer doesn't need "bite" thank you very much (glad they left that slogan in the 90s) and MUG is the poor man's A&W. I'll drink it if I'm desperate but I'd never choose it over A&W. A&W has just the right balance of root beer flavor with vanilla and of course high fructose corn syrup. Yum. Plus look at the cans! They look like barrels just overflowing with root beer deliciousness.

If you truly want to experience the loveliness of A&W root beer you have to go to one of their restaurant locations. A fountain root beer straight from the source. Unfortunately the one that I used to get my fix at (attached to a KFC in Brockton) closed. If I ever find myself in Harwich Port I know where I'm going. Until then I'll just buy my root beer at the super market.
