Eating dinner with a celebrity (kind of sort of) CHEERS
What a beautiful day out today! It's in the 70s and the sun is shining and it would be a perfect day to go for a nice long walk except I seem to have come down with some sort of bronchitis/pleurisy/consumption. I don't really have a cough though, just pain in the chest when I breathe which is making sleeping a bit of a pain (literally). I'll go to the doctor if it gets worse but I'm holding off since I'm pretty sure they'll just tell me it's a viral infection and it will resolve on its own. I can still walk around but if I bend over or go up stairs I get a bit winded.
What have I been doing this long weekend? Well we had dinner with Oliver Peck from Ink Masters. Ok, we sat at the table next to Oliver Peck from Ink Masters. Derek is the one that recognized him. I'm shocked that he recognized someone from reality tv before I did! I'm a reality tv junkie! We didn't ask for a picture or autograph. I'm not the type to go up to celebrities and ask for pictures or autographs especially when they're enjoying a delicious Thai dinner. I was enjoying my dinner too even though it was a bit spicy, when it shouldn't have been spicy at all. I paid for that later with a burning bladder but I hate sending food back. I've had the dish many times before, it's not supposed to be spicy at all. I think it might have been cooked near something spicy or they used the same utensils to cook my food after a spicy dish. Ah well, it happened and it still tasted delicious.
I took a trip to IKEA and got some pillows for the couch. I also got some meatballs and that delicious sauce to bring home. You can't leave IKEA without some meatballs. I feel like I'm very slowly making the apartment feel more like home. There's still a lot of empty wall space but I have some art work that just needs to be framed and then we can hang it up. The curtains will go up soon I swear!
Today I'm lounging around enjoying a Mang-O-Rita on our porch/balcony with Derek. We saw some blue jays making a lot of noise and a squirrel not using one of his paws but still getting around just fine. Now it's time for sushi and miso soup! Hope you had a good long weekend or a good Thanksgiving if you're Canadian (I'm looking at you Spark!)

Curve cut to fit
Hello and welcome to the 25th floor.
So I was right about last minute panicking on Friday. I had two "very urgent" phone calls. I was able to get out at 3 to start my weekend early though. Here's the view from my desk. I'm right next to very large windows. Good thing I'm not afraid of heights. That's the Prudential on the right.
I was a bad girl and got Pour House for lunch. It was worth it. I hadn't had french fries in over a week which is a really long time for me. *pats self on back*
There's a tattoo convention in Boston this weekend. I just walked by but kind of wish I could go. I have one tattoo on my lower back. Yes I have a tramp stamp ok! Yes there is a butterfly! I was 18. I have been thinking about getting a second tattoo for years. Nothing large, maybe something to remember my dad by. He was an artist and passed away when I was a teenager. Or maybe I should hold a blog contest and the winner will have their face tattooed on me.
The Red Hat makes a really good burger but I couldn't have a burger two meals in a row so I went with teriyaki chicken.
No dispensers in the bathroom to take a photo of so I took a photo with this chap. Yes I am curve cut to fit.
It was a bit slow but hey that means faster service for us. They were playing the weirdest music. I was tempted to put Die Antwoord on the jukebox like I did last time I was at the Red Hat.
I'm off to go camping! Have a great weekend.

Camping at Sandy Pond
I'm back from camping and drying my tent in my living room. The cats think it's a cat fort.
Water and beer, the essentials. You can buy beer and wine on the camp ground. I think for the Fourth of July camping trip I'm going to make sangria.
The weather was a little cooler than I would have liked it to be but it was bearable. I'd rather not be sweltering camping with no fans. It rained off and on most of the weekend.

Who invited the hipster bunny? I loved these light up glasses. I also colored in a coloring book. There's something very therapeutic about coloring. My future children are probably going be like "mom, we don't want to color anymore!" I did not bring the coloring book. There was a two and a half year old camping.
I ate so much great food. We had a shrimp boil one night, corn on the cob, burgers and dogs, so many snacks and roasted marshmallows. I should probably eat a few salads this week.
Back to work tomorrow but I had a great long weekend.

Marathon Monday recap: bullhorns, flag pants and a drunk bartender.
Yesterday was one of my favorite events in Boston - Marathon Monday. It's also one of the biggest drinking days in Boston. My neighbors were up and yelling and drinking by 8:15 in the morning. Waaaaaay too early. There was a bullhorn involved and pants with an American flag print, and I almost murdered someone.
Despite the look on Derek's face this is water. Marathon drinking requires lots of water.
I waited until noon to start because I can't have a liquid breakfast. I also don't own tacky American flag pants or a bullhorn which must be a requirement for morning drinking.
I've been going out in Washington Square to cheer on runners on for the past few years and continued that tradition this year. And by cheer on I mean drink beer and yell "woooooooooooo!"
We tried to make it across the street to get to Washington Square Tavern but there were so many runners this year we couldn't find a safe way to make it across. The last thing I'd want is to take out a runner because I had to get to a bar.
We ended up at Barcelona where we managed to snag a seat outside. It took us forever to get drinks. I can understand a wait because it's Marathon Monday but I feel like the restaurant did not prepare for the amount of people. It's the Marathon and you're a bar on the marathon route, all hands on deck folks.
One of the bartenders was clearly drunk and the other bartender had to tell him multiple times where he needed to start take drink orders. There were glasses breaking and confusion. We nicked named drunk bartender "the bro". A few winks and sexual innuendos later we finally got our drinks. I think he said something like "I didn't forget about you guys, this is just the tip and it's gonna feel good once it's all in." Ugh.
I should have worn sunblock and did not so now my arms are burnt. I did have sunblock on my face though but my freckles are out in full force.

My co-worker Kerri came out. She will probably hate me today.
I made it until about 6 pm and then I had to go. Too much beer and sun and not enough water. At least I know my limits.
I have a busy week ahead. My friend Monica is visiting and I have to get ready for St. Thomas next week. I am so excited for this vacation. Let's hope my sunburn heals in time.

Sometimes I just don't get contemporary art. I like it old school.
Derek and I went to the Museum of Fine Arts today. Admission was free this weekend.
I saw many items that I wanted like mini llamas.
And artwork that I just don't get.
Is it tinfoil? Weird.
And we can't forget the giant cheese grater for your giant cheese.
The MFA has some very recognizable paintings.
It's strange seeing a famous painting in real life. It's like meeting a celebrity.
This is how Derek and I watch tv.
I call this painting "well this sucks...."
Fancy museum walls.
We walked around for about two hours and then ate dinner at Fridays. We can't be classy all day.
I also saw the new Star Trek movie and I really liked it. The ladies were squealing for Benedict Cumberbatch. The dialogue got a lot of laughs.
I think over all I had a very productive long weekend.

I have to move my whole desk because of a burst pipe. HAPPY FRIDAY
I don't think I really need to elaborate much on the title of this post. I came into a wet cubicle floor and in order to reach the pipe I have to have my whole cubicle moved.
Happy Friday and cheers to wet squishy carpets.
I'm going to see Muse tonight so it's all ok. Oh and it's a long weekend due to Marathon Monday so yea I guess it's not so bad.

My lap is not a carnival ride
I've discovered two things today. Old people shop at Whole Foods on Mondays and I don't like shopping at the same time as old people. They hit you with carriages and swing a bag of green peppers into your face but you can't say anything because you will look like a giant jerk.
Food shopping was pretty much the only productive thing I did on my day off. I watched some Super Natural on netflix which I'm loving. Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki (Sam) have awesome bro chemistry. Why have I not watched this show sooner?
I need to get back to work because the cats are driving me nuts. They're treating my lap like a carnival ride. "My turn for the lap!" I push one off and the other gets on and then it just keeps going round and round and they really need to find something else to do.
I've had enough, cats! I will take my lap back! It's is mine!
And as I type this Mr. Binx actually listened and is now sitting on my arm while I'm trying to type. Great.
I'm also realizing the title of this post was probably not the best idea but I'm going to leave it.
