The shocking truth behind Plymouth Rock. The rock is full of lies! #happythanksgiving

Have you ever wanted to visit Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower? Well I'm here to tell you it's a complete utter waste of time. I was probably about 20 years old the first time I went. Somehow I unintentionally avoided the Plymouth field trips in school. The campground I go to every year is in Plymouth so one time we were like let's go see the rock and the Mayflower and get some ice cream!

I'll let you guess what the most exciting part was. Hint: it was not the rock or the boat.

We arrive at the beach and it doesn't take us long to find the Mayflower since it's a giant boat. We are then informed that this is not the actual boat. It is in fact the Mayflower II and is a replica. Um ok, well that kind of makes sense because I can't imagine a boat lasting that long. It was still interesting to see.

Now onto the actual rock. You can't actually get that close to it. You can just gaze upon it. It is in fact in a cage.

Well this is about as exciting as a rock in a cage! Um wait.....

There's also a plaque nearby to give you information about the rock. You learn so many useful facts such as: This is not the actual rock, or the actual location, and there wasn't a rock involved at all really. THIS ROCK IS FULL OF LIES.

It's supposed to be symbolic so I thought about it and then decided the trip wasn't a complete waste because at least we got ice cream.

How to have an office Thanksgiving

First you must work on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Make sure there is some event where you have to order food a few days before. We had two birthdays and a baby shower.

It helps if you have a co-worker that purchases breakfast and gets bagels, fudge, sweet potato pie and mini coffee cakes.

If your office has gotten a holiday basket bust that open and spread it out on the table.

Now you must eat all the food because there is a long weekend ahead and you can't let all this food go to waste.

Here is a list of the offerings at the office Thanksgiving

salad
two types of cheese cake
vanilla cake with buttercream frosting
bagels
lasagna
pizza
nuts
danish
sweet potato pie
fudge
mini coffee cakes
jelly beans
some kind of orange jam

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Let's just change the name of Thanksgiving to Black Friday Eve

Best Buy has decided this year to open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving for Black Friday. That's one hour earlier than last year. Their reason is that other stores do and because they didn't open that one hour earlier last year lost money.

Well Best Buy why not just open on Thanksgiving morning at 6 a.m. I mean it's not like your workers have families and if there are people already camped out outside of your store two weeks before Thanksgiving clearly they don't want to spend time with their families either. They also don't have jobs. Wouldn't any true American chose a bargain on a tv over spending time with their loved ones or getting a job?

Let's just change the name of Thanksgiving to Black Friday Eve. It's like Christmas Eve but instead of people going to mass everyone will wait in lines.

So on this years Black Friday Eve I hope you gather round the table with your loved ones (unless they are working retail of course) and map out your plan of attack for the best deals. Maybe bring your unemployed aunt who's been waiting outside of Best Buy for two weeks an extra blanket. God bless her strength for waiting in lines for the best deal on a TV.

After you get your deals don't forget to gather round the tv to watch news coverage of people being trampled in a Walmart or a mother punched in the face for hoarding Xboxes.

MERICA!

Turkey, catnip and candles that make me seeze

Derek and I went to my mom and Tony's house for Thanksgiving today. I avoided the Mass Pike and took back roads and by some miracle we did not run into any traffic. I'm still stuffed from all the food. My mom had little trivia cards printed out and we competed for the prize which was gum, a candy bar and chap stick. Tony and I tied and although he won the tie breaker he gave me the prize. Winner winner chicken dinner! I'm rich in gum and candy.

My mom had a few Christmas decorations up. Mini trees are so cute.

Thanksgiving Day selfie. Best to do it in semi darkness from the waist up so you can't see how bloated I am from stuffing my face.

I bought a fake tree at Target yesterday. I can't wait to put it up and decorate it. I've never put up a tree in my own apartment before. I'm overly excited about it. I seem to have a lot of bird ornaments. I'm not sure how this happened. The plan is to put it up tomorrow.

You should have seen Derek and I at Target trying to figure out how many boxes of lights we should buy. We had no clue so we just got one box for now and figured we can get more if it's not enough. Is there some kind of trick to figuring that out?

I'm home now trying to digest my food. I gave the cats some turkey and then put some catnip out and they are happy kitty campers. I also lit a mistletoe candle which means I'll be sneezing because I'm allergic to pine. I just love the smell, I can't help it.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Thoughts on Skyfall

I saw Skyfall this weekend. It was what you would expect from a Bond movie. Javier Bardem is really good at playing a bad guy (see No Country for Old Men). The sexy lady love interest in this movie was pretty lame. Bond meets her and then later that night just casually slips into the shower while she's in there. Um what? Oh yea I just met you and didn't even know that you were on my boat but please come in the shower with me. Even Derek was like what the heck was that? And he's a dude.

I ate a whole medium pop corn by myself. I decided to continue the Thanksgiving gluttony all weekend.

I have my stretchy pants on. I'm going to destroy some Turkey Day leftovers. Care to join me?

Thanksgiving on the Cape

Derek's parents live on the Cape so after our Thanksgiving dinner we took a little walk on the beach. I love the cape. I love white sand that looks like snow. I love food. It was a good day.

Jesus is Jesus and I like presents.

Ok I admit I've got the holiday spirit. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and after that it's full steam ahead to Christmas and then New Years and then I cry until spring because it's cold and there's no more feasting days and presents.

You know what really got me in the holiday mood? Derek telling me he already got my Christmas present. If presents don't get you in the Christmas spirit than I don't know what will. Oh, maybe baby Jesus.....Do you ever wonder if Jesus gets pissed that he never gets the presents for his birthday? I'd be pissed. Everyone else gets presents to celebrate your birth but you get a pray. I guess that's why Jesus is Jesus and I'm not, because I would so care about that. I'm also not a carpenter and my crib wasn't a manger if you needed any more proof of me not being Jesus.

I'm not good at waiting for presents. I always want them NOW. At least I won't search for them anymore. When I was a kid I would try to find my Christmas presents. My mom was smart though and hid most of them in the trunk of her car. I never thought to look in the trunk of the car? I always looked in the closets or under the beds.

My mother would also put a note on our tree from Santa saying that we won the best decorated tree in the world award. We were so proud. Number 1 in the world is a big deal.

Look at me getting all wrapped up in Christmas memories when it's still November. This blog is just as bad as the malls.

I hope all of you have a good Thanksgiving and if you're going shopping on black Friday you are absolutely out of your mind. But if you are out and see anything that just screams GINNY please feel free to get it for me.

So ready to stuff my face.

I really love Thanksgiving. Who doesn't like a short work week and stuffing your face? Crazy people that's who.

I'm going to Derek's parent's house for Thanksgiving. In my 28 years of existence I've never been to a boyfriend's family's home for Thanksgiving. I feel like a real live adult now! I rented a zipcar for the journey. I miss having my own car but there's no point in buying a new car in Boston in the winter. It will just be buried under snow until spring.

I'd like to share with you my favorite foods from Thanksgiving:

stuffing
mashed potatoes
rolls (with butter of course)
squash
turnip (I'm weird. Love me some turnip)
green bean casserole
pumpkin pie

Turkey is kind of last on my list. I'll eat turkey and like turkey but I'm more of a sides gal. Let's not forget pouring gravy on everything - well except the pumpkin pie, but if that floats your gravy boat go for it.
