Come on summer

We didn't have any Memorial Day plans since we just got back from our honeymoon but the rainy weather certainly didn't motivate us to do anything. The heat even kicked on this morning. Definitely a stark contrast to Aruba weather. Any day summer wants to make its way to Boston would be great.

We're back from our honeymoon! We may be a little burnt and a few pounds heavier but we had a great time. We stayed at Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach and really enjoyed the resort. The pool and beach were fantastic as was the food. We were also in walking distance of a ton of other resorts and restaurants so the location was perfect.

Some of our favorite spots:

We didn't have any activities planned except for a sunset boat cruise which my cousin and her husband booked for us as a gift. We also had drinks with a former co-worker of mine who happened to be in Aruba staying nearby. Otherwise, we lounged on the beach and in the pool and drank a ton of Balashi beer and daiquiris.

We only stayed five days which may not seem long enough for some people but for us it was perfect. We both start to get a little antsy to get home if we vacation for too long. There's only so much lounging one can do. It was the perfect amount of time for us.

Mr. and Mrs.

As of yesterday around 1:15 p.m. We had such a great time and I'm so grateful for everyone who celebrated with us. We have some pretty awesome people in our lives and of course I now have a pretty awesome husband in my life.

RIP Chris Cornell

Very sad news this morning. Chris Cornell passed away last night at the age of 52. Growing up in the 90s his music was a huge part of my youth. From Soungarden to Audioslave to even the Casino Royale Bond theme, he was an amazing talent.

On my deathbed I will pray
To the gods and the angels
Like a pagan to anyone
Who will take me to heaven

Making a long day even longer

I'm finally relaxing at home and getting ready for bed after a very long day. I worked late and then had to run some errands before I headed home. When I finally got home I realized I left the place cards for the wedding back at work. I could have gone back in to get them tomorrow or Friday but I wanted to get it over with so I took an Uber back to work and grabbed them. I'll sleep easier with one less task on the to-do list. Oddly enough I'm feeling less stressed than I was last week.

Four days

Tomorrow is my last day of work before the wedding. I took Thursday and Friday off to run errands and spend time with family and friends. We picked up our rings from the jeweler today. I'm really happy with them. I wish I could wear mine now but I'll be good and wait a few days.

Before I head to bed I wanted to share an incredible story I read on the Atlantic today, My Family's Slave. It's a long read but well written and worth the time.

"She lived with us for 56 years. She raised me and my siblings without pay. I was 11, a typical American kid, before I realized who she was."

I had my bachelorette party last night. It was a lot of fun and I can tell that my friends put a lot of planning into it. We started out at Fiona's with drinks and snacks and lots of temporary tattoos. Then we got on a party bus and headed out to dance and drink around the city. I woke up with a little bit of a hangover but once I ate and took a nap I felt much better. Now I'm just relaxing around the apartment debating if I want to watch Me Before You. I know it will make me cry so I'm debating if I'm in the mood for a sad movie.

Here's a picture on the party bus last night.
