Tomorrow is my last day of work before the wedding. I took Thursday and Friday off to run errands and spend time with family and friends. We picked up our rings from the jeweler today. I'm really happy with them. I wish I could wear mine now but I'll be good and wait a few days.
Before I head to bed I wanted to share an incredible story I read on the Atlantic today,
My Family's Slave. It's a long read but well written and worth the time.
"She lived with us for 56 years. She raised me and my siblings without pay. I was 11, a typical American kid, before I realized who she was."
I read a bit of the intro to the story. I must go back and read the whole thing now! My mom was from the Philippines, "Lola" is a term for grandmother. Something to read in lieu of your blog while you're off becoming a wife, I suppose. Have a great wedding! Tell us all about it!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And I'm sure there will be plenty of blog posts and pics to follow.
DeleteI read the whole thing then forgot to come back an comment! What a tragic story.
ReplyDeleteRight? I can't imagine having lived that life. And yet she was still so kind!
