People need to get over themselves. Dewey Square Mural is coming down.

The mural in Dewey Square painted by Otavio and Gustavio Pandolofo (awesome names, in my opinion) on the side of a utility building is coming down. The Greenway claims that the mural is "starting to show signs of deterioration" which is why it's coming down and some 18 month time limit on Greenway art. I don't believe that for a second. I've walked by the mural many times and I've never thought it was deteriorating.

The big deal is that some people think this is a "terrorist". The artists claim it is a boy in his pj's with a shirt around his head. Of course this all started when Fox asked its viewers if they thought the mural was offensive. Yes let's ask Fox viewers if something is offensive.

Personally I'm not the biggest fan of the mural but that's just my art preference. I guess I'm just tired of people turning everything into something. I have better things to do with my time. I also wish the Greenway would just admit the real reason for taking down the "worn" mural.

Now what should we put there instead?

A big truck and a ROCK FLAG AND EAGLE!!!"

  1. God America is really making me sad these days. I feel like when the news over here talks about the US they really only mean the government, and I feel like the public have very different views and I'm not explaining myself very well but I don't feel that in a country as big as yours with so many people and so, theoretically, so much "power of the people" there should be so much of a disparity between the government's wants and wishes and those of the people...

And that really was more of an observation on the whole Snowden thing and less about this odd but inoffensive mural!

    1. Right now it's pretty bad. People are not happy and the government is too busy arguing and posturing to get anything done.

  2. The only thing that offends me is when we react to idiots being offended by something inoffensive. Everyone's allowed to have an opinion but that doesn't mean we have to listen to you.

    1. So true. There's no way to be sure if this is a reaction to people's opinions or if the Greenway had this plan in place all along. I'm hoping that they are not just doing it to please a few complainers.
