Must read! The A.V. Club's article about Charlie Hunnman pulling out of 50 Shades of Grey

This is just brilliant.

Holy crap,” Universal Pictures said, its inner goddess reflexively clenching around the aching void that Hunnam had filled just moments ago, now left empty and quivering.
Read the whole article here. It's worth it.

I'm actually glad that Charlie Hunnam dropped out because I like him, and I'm afraid anyone that's in the 50 Shades movie can only be dragged down by its awfulness. I think they should cast unknowns. And for the love of God people, please stop begging Universal to cast Alexis Bledel as Ana. Just NO NO NO. Do not ruin her (and by her I mean Alexis Bledel in case you thought I cared and was referring to ruining the character), and the part has already been cast so move on with your lives.

And if you haven't already, please check out Snark Squad for all of your snarky 50 Shades of Grey re-cap needs.

  1. That's a great article. And really, he can say whatever PC thing he wants to say ("Oh, I'm just too busy with Sons" - please, you were ALWAYS busy shooting Sons), but I think he just didn't read the book or the script that deeply, finally got down to seeing what his character was really about, and then was like, "Oh crap, I need to get out of this NOW before this absolutely ruins me."

  2. I am glad he got out too, the movie may make money but won't be a critical success..he is too good for that movie. This part would definitely be a challenge for an actor..just not sure it could help anybody's career..Charlie H. is smart.

    1. It's not a career helper for sure! Or not if you want to be taken seriously as an actor.
