I'm banning myself from political talk on Facebook

I'm on Facebook quite a bit. It's my natural reaction now when I'm bored to check Facebook and see what's going on. Lately though, Facebook is stressing me out. It's a non-stop barrage of politics and 2016 election talk. I've been commenting, sharing and liking and found myself just getting more agitated and anxious. I'm tired of seeing Donald Trumps face all over my news feed.

So I'm banning myself from commenting on political talk on Facebook for a while. It's going to be tough because I'm pretty opinionated but there's no need for this added stress. If you post a good cat video though, I will definitely comment on that.

  1. I don't comment on politics at all online. It's just not worth the extra stress!

  2. Agreed. I stay away from politics online even though I'm pretty opinionated myself. Sorry, it's just policy.

  3. I'm sad that over the years I've felt compelled to remove people rather than just unfollow those who were overly political. I have no interest in talking about that stuff online. People are extra rude about their opinions behind the comfort of a computer screen.

    1. I've made it so I can't see some people's updates on my feed. I did have to de-friend someone because their political comments made it clear they were racist. No thank you, I'm all set.

  4. I'm all for having open discussions about politics, because things need to be talked about, but fighting on Facebook is never going to change anyone's views. People just get more entrenched in the opinions they already had. I think those conversations are best had face-to-face, which requires people to be more polite, hopefully.
