Birthday celebrations, Going Clear and a facehugging Easter

Happy Easter everyone! Today is also Derek's birthday. We stayed at the Hotel Commonwealth Saturday night to celebrate. I normally take a photo of the hotel room but I forgot to this time. It was a very nice room and we enjoyed our stay. We watched Going Clear in the hotel room before brunch.

Scientology is more horrible than I realized. I knew the "church" was abusive but they actually have labor camps for adults and children. The "church" also bullied and threatened the IRS to get their tax exemption status. If you've watched the documentary let me know what you thought.

So that was our Easter. No egg hunting involved although we did have eggs ate brunch.

The great Easter freak out

I was a very dramatic child. I refused to believe it for a long time but I have finally admitted that it's true. My mother would often say things like "you should be an actress because that was quite the performance". This was usually when I didn't want to do dishes (my most hated chore) and faked ailments such as my earlobe hurting.

When I was a child I loved stuffed animals. I barely had any room on my bed because I had all my stuffed animals piled in bed with me and sometimes a real live cat or two. Every Easter the Easter Bunny would put a stuffed animal in my Easter basket. Forget the chocolate, the plastic eggs and the bubbles - I wanted a new stuffed animal. One year my mother decided to skip out on the stuffed animal and I had a full on melt down.

My mother felt horrible. She tried to give me this bunny toy she had gotten for the cats but I was having none of it because it was not "mine". You would think that at some point I would have gotten over it and eaten some candy but no. I was upset and crying for the whole day. My mother called it the ambulance cry because it sounded like the sound an ambulance would make.

I'm pretty sure that cry inspired the phrase "call the whambulance".

My mother got me a stuffed animal the next day and all was well in the world. She never left out a stuffed animal again.

Easter and Tilda Swinton is in a box.

My Easter was a bit hectic driving from Boston to Franklin then to the Cape but we managed to squeeze in time with both our families.

It's finally starting to feel like spring in Boston. I went for a walk this weekend and saw little baby flowers blooming. I got more flowers (the tea roses above) from Derek's parents. Let's hope the cats don't eat it or that I don't kill it. I really like my little rose plant.

We did a late Christmas with Derek's parents and besides the plant they got me some very nice things including a giant cookbook with lots of tasty looking recipes.

I actually received a blogging request from my friend Melissa via text this weekend. She wants to know what I think about Tilda Swinton in a box and asked if I could blog about it.

Ask and you shall receive.

I love Tilda Swinton. She's crazy, but interesting crazy. I'm not surprised that she's doing something like this and I like that she does what she wants. She doesn't care if people think she's weird. Embrace your weirdness. Normal is boring. I would go see this if I was in New York.

Also, whoever put Tilda and David Bowie together in a music video is a genius. Was that you David Bowie? I'd like a reality show where it's Just David Bowie and Tilda Swinton doing things together. Can we make that happen?

And Melissa I know you didn't ask but I thought I should tell you that I had a dream that your dog Riley got really fat and you decided that you hated regular mattresses so you got an air mattress. Just thought you should know that.
