Ginny's got a new toy

Today I finally set up my Fire TV Stick and let me tell you it's awesome. Set up was super easy. Within five minutes I was watching a Robin Williams comedy special. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime so I have plenty of movies and tv shows to watch. So far I've experienced no lagging and it connects via your wifi so I can use my laptop while watching if I so please. You can also download the app and use your smart phone as a controller. A+ my friends.

So the MBTA is kind of sort of but not really running tomorrow and they're saying it may take 30 days before the T resumes normal service. That's if we don't have another blizzard.

I think I'm walking to work tomorrow which will take me at least an hour and it's going to be in the single digits.

I'll take my calls from down here thanks.

In other news that makes me want to cry the Fifty Shades of Grey movie broke some President's Day opening record. I mean who doesn't want to watch a man abuse a woman on the big screen staring two people who hate each other in real life.

What I Consumed This Weekend
  • Did you watch S.N.L. 40th anniversary show? As per usual with S.N.L. there were some hits (Celebrity Jeopardy) and some misses (Bass-o-Mastic). I'm waiting for Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon to have their own show, I just love them together.
  • On the Bachelor Britt needed the whambulance and Chris attempted to rap the whitest rap of all time. "Family means everything so does an engagement ring." I feel a little ill just typing that.
  • I finished reading Radiance by Grace Draven. If you like fantasy and romance I highly recommend it.
  • Everything Karmin puts out is just amazing. They're not afraid to try out different styles of music and always nail it. I've been listening to Yesterday on repeat.
And I'm out!

*I am an amazon affiliate so if you buy the Fire TV Stick through the above link I get a percentage.

Juan Pablo is pretty much the worst Bachelor ever. This post was written with a lot of VapoRub.

I'm blogging while inhaling the lovely fumes of Vicks VapoRub. It's also my 30th birthday!! I had plans to go out tonight with Derek but instead he will be making me soup and I will be resting on the couch. My birthday bash with all my friends is on Saturday so I better rest up.

I didn't do much yesterday except sleep and go through a whole box of tissues but I did watch the bachelor and oh boy do I have a few things to say.

Juan Pablo is the worst Bachelor in the history of the show. He seemed like a nice guy but he manipulates the woman on the show and uses his daughter as an excuse for anything he feels uncomfortable with.

At one point he said that he wouldn't kiss anymore girls because he was afraid of what his daughter would think. First of all his daughter is 4 so why would she be watching this show? Second of all he continues to kiss the women he wants to kiss and then tells any woman he doesn't want to kiss he can't because of his daughter. Literally right after he tells a woman he can't kiss her because of his daughter he makes out with another girl because "can't resist her".

The worst was last night's episode when Claire snuck off to his room in Vietnam and asked him to go swimming in the ocean at 4 a.m. Juan Pablo agreed without a second thought. The next day he regrets this and says they "went too far". He then has a talk with Claire and uses his daughter as an excuse and makes her feel guilty claiming once again that he has to think about what his daughter will see. How about you admit that you feel guilty but that it's not her fault because you willing participated!

If he picks another woman at the end beside Claire how will she feel that they got it on in the ocean? Pretty pissed off I'm going to guess. And there is no doubt that they had sex that night from Claire's comments alone.

I'm not a big fan of Claire but she did not deserve the guilt he was laying on her.

I won't even get into his remarks about having a gay bachelor. That was a huge strike one in my book.

I would also like to point out that Derek walked by while I was watching and said "wait is that Juan Pablo? I thought he was Spanish?" I said that he is Spanish. Derek does not believe me but this also adds to my theory that the Bachelor producers picked the whitest Spanish guy they could find.

Ok back to looking up all the uses for Vicks VapoRub. Does it really work for pimples?

Get me out of January.

I don't have much to say today except that I am very sick of winter right now. This freezing cold is getting to me for sure. January is statistically the coldest month in Boston although to me February doesn't feel much warmer.

Doing laundry is the bane of my existence right now because it involves multiple trips outside in the freezing cold. Some day I will have laundry in my unit and I will weep with joy and do so much laundry.

Today I tried the new Ben and Jerry's flavor Rob Burgundy's Scotchy Scotch Scotch. It was really good. If you like butterscotch you have to try it.

I'm watching the Bachelor right now and Juan Pablo has decided after kissing 6 girls that he is not going to kiss anymore girls because he doesn't want his daughter seeing him kiss all of these girls. This has made for some pretty awkward moments because he has suddenly decided this in the middle of the season after already kissing 6 girls! One girl has started crying because she feels rejected. Two minutes later Juan Pablo breaks his no kissing rule for a girl who admitted she vomited in her mouth but swallowed it. How very Ana Steele of her.

Well I guess I had more to say than I thought. I kind of enjoyed writing this on the fly post.

Ginny's #Bachelor picks and the Notebook mention count.

It's no secret that my guilty pleasure TV is the Bachelor and Bachelortte. I can't help it don't judge me! ABC finally revealed the 27 ladies who will be battling it out for Juan Pablo. This is like the real life Hunger Games (or at least the people on the show act like their in the Hunger Games). I thought I would share my favorite and not so favorite profiles.

My number 1 pick is Victoria.

Victoria is a legal assistant so I've got her back right off the bat. She also has a V name. (yes my choices are really based on stupid crap like this).

She lists her favorite moves as Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Mean Girls. We have a nerd folks! Love it.

Final point for Victoria is that she owns a cat.

My 2nd pick is Andi.

Despite that fact that her name is Andi with an I I like her. She can't help that her parents named her that. Although having a name with an odd spelling is the perfect name for a Bachelor contestant (besides Ashley or some variation of Alli).

Andi's favorite TV show is Scandal so I know she likes good tv.

What really made me like Andi is that she lists her biggest accomplishment as getting a murderer convicted in 8 minutes. Yes my top two are in the legal field.

Her answer to the boring "what three things would you bring if you were stranded on a desert island" question is a pilot, a plane and fuel. Seriously girl, you have some sense about you despite having ombre hair and being on the Bachelor.

My 3rd pic is Sharleen.

She's an opera singer which I think is pretty cool.

Her favorite movies are The Royal Tenenbaums, Spirited Away, Match Point. All great choices and bonus point for not mentioning the Notebook.

Her favorite writer is Haruki Murakami. Thank you once again Sharleen for having good taste and not picking the Notebook or 50 Shades of Grey.

An honorable mention goes to Lacy for listing Hot Cheetos as her favorite food. I was going to smash something if one more girl said fruit and/or almonds.

Let's move onto my non picks. These are not in any type of order.

First up is Alexis.

Alexis lists her favorite book as The Bible. It's fine if you enjoy reading The Bible but really? You're going to list that as your favorite book? Ok Rebecca Ann Leeman.

 photo tumblr_lrj07rfTmy1qh01joo1_400_zps5fb20b80.gif

Her favorite movies are Home Alone 2, Elf and Titanic. Home Alone 2? What about Home Alone 1? Way better. Titanic is a good movie but that's right behind the Notebook for favorite movie clichés.

Sorry Alexis, I just don't think I can root for you.

My second non pick is Kelly.

Kelly lists her occupation as "Dog Lover". I'm translating this to either unemployed or crazy or both. I love dogs (and cats) too! But I also have a real actual job.

Her favorite television show is the Bachelor. She sounds like she might be a super fan. You don't actually list the show you're on as your favorite show.

Kelly's favorite book is Eat Pray Love. Wow, very original. I bet your second favorite book is THE NOTEBOOK.

I will admit that I'm glad she lists her favorite food as steak and potato.

Third pick is Amy L.

Sorry I can't get past this shirt. What is this shirt? That's all I have to say about Amy L. I can't get past the shirt and white jeans. She does have nice hair. See I said something nice.

Let's get the final counts of things mentioned the most in the profiles. Drum roll please.

Home Alone 2 (not 1, just 2): mentioned 2 times.

The Notebook: mentioned 4 times.

Favorite food is nuts and/or fruit: 4 times.

I can't wait for January

50 Shades of Crazy on the Bachelor

I don't hide the fact that the Bachelor and Bachelorette are guilty pleasures. Is it the tears or the ugly dresses that look like they came from Tellos - I can't quite say.

On the premiere of the Bachelor we had a girl in a wedding dress begging for a kiss.

A girl crying on the stairs because she wasn't going to fight for a guys attention. You are are on the wrong show girl! That's what the Bachelor is all about.

Among all the hair extensions and spray tan and tears there was one shinning beacon of shame. The 50 Shades of Grey Girl. She showed up with a tie telling the Bachelor that she hoped he would show her how to use it. I'm pretty sure the look on his face was not excitement but fear and confusion.

Do girls not realize that guys don't read these books? Sean probably had no idea what she was referring too. As the night went on she just kept getting drunker and more ridiculous and kept pulling out her Christian Grey tie. Needless to say she did not get a rose.

I'm sure there are some woman out there that read the 50 Shades series who are normal but this woman pretty much sums up my idea of who reads these books and thinks they're good.
