How bazaar

I don't have much to report for the blog this week so let me tell you about the Etsy bazaar my mother and I tried to attend.

I saw on Facebook that there would be an Etsy bazaar at a local mall featuring many local Etsy sellers. I told my mother about it and we thought it would be a fun mother daughter thing to do. When we got to the mall we stopped in a few stores on our way to where we thought the bazaar was. While in line to purchase a pair of shoes the woman in front of us tell us the wait is two hours to get in and there are only a few tables, definitely not worth the wait. I check on the event page on Facebook and people are complaining about how poorly the event was planned and that the wait was so long and not even worth it once you got in. Some people had come from out of state to attend and were pretty angry that they couldn't get in.

My mother and I decided that we weren't going to wait in line for two hours for that. We walked by just to see what was going on. The bazaar was in a small empty store space and they were letting in 5 people at a time. They were also charging a dollar to get in which is fine but wasn't mentioned on the event page. The line was going all the way back through the mall. I think we made the right decision by not going.

We did get a nice holiday photo and got a little shopping done. I bought a pair of comfortable heels for work. That was my shopping triumph of the day. Comfortable heels are not easy to find. I'm still on the hunt for new boots.

After shopping we got some lunch and visited my grandmother. A successful mother daughter day.

Mother's Day, 70s era Italian and ugly hats.

Happy Mother's Day everyone. I took my mother out for lunch and saw her new apartment. It's in a very interesting building that is best described as 70s era Italian. There's a lot of brown and ornate gold colored things. There's also a fountain in the lobby.

Here's my lovely mother by the fountain.

When she first moved she had a hard time. She was leaving the last home she lived in with her boyfriend before he passed away. It will be one year in July since his passing. The home they were living in was his so she had to move once he passed. I told her that it will take some time for the new place to feel like "home". She does have some of his furniture and art work so there is some familiarity.

We went out for lunch and some shopping. I got a belt and I'm sure Derek is saying "finally!". I was getting tired of my pants falling down all the time but was having a hard time finding a belt that I liked and that fit.

We tried on some ugly hats. I mean seriously who would buy these? It's a bit hard to see but my hat has a rhinestone crown on it.

I also got some new sneakers. Bright pink laces? SOLD. I've been trying to walk more, get that old exercise in and my old sneakers were a little past their prime.

So that was my Mother's Day. Now it's time to start doing laundry and packing for Vegas!!! I'm so excited for vacation!

Apple, we have a problem

My mother called me around 7 this morning to tell me something very important. Last night she had purchased what she thought were sweet peppers for her salad and instead bought very hot peppers. Her hands were still burning this morning from cutting them. I tried hard not to laugh and told her to try rubbing her hands on some potatoes. Honestly I don't really know what to do in that situation but potatoes seemed like something that might help. She went the milk route which seems like a better idea than the potatoes now that I think about it.

Two of my co-workers have some beef with Apple. This means I do to because we stick together. One brought her daughter's ipad that had a broken off jack to the headphones stuck inside and the other had a laptop that just died and would not turn on. Apple claimed they had three people try to remove the broken headphone jack but we unsuccessful. They suggest she buy a new ipad. One of our other co-workers ended fixing it in about a minute with a pair of tweezers. Come on Apple. Did you even try? I'm guessing not.

My other co-worker was told it would cost $1,200.00 to fix her laptop. Isn't that the cost of a new laptop? I feel like Apple's solution is to just buy a new Apple product. That solution doesn't work so well for people who don't have all this extra money lying around.

I've been sucked into a new series on Netflix instant.

The 100 is like a futuristic Lord of the Flies. After a nuclear apocalypse the humans that survived took refuge in space stations joined together now called the Ark. Three generations later the Ark is dying and so the juvenile prisoners on board are sent to earth to determine if it's habitable. Yes some of the story lines are predictable and there are quite a few injuries that should have caused deaths yet didn't but it's a fun show. What can I say, I'm a sucker for drama, action and sci-fi.

I never leave my mother's empty handed

Whenever I come back from my mother's house she always sends me home with a ton of stuff. This time I took home earrings, a crocheted blanket, Star Wars pins, a cute cat tin, a journal with an inscription from 1983, ant traps, a workout DVD, a Rolling Stones hat, hand painted coasters and a tote bag. I'm probably forgetting something but that's a lot of stuff.

We had dinner at a really good Chinese restaurant near her house. She said we were only going to have one glass of wine but the two times I went to the bathroom another glass magically appeared. How did that happen mom?

I can't tell if Bosco misses Mr. Binx or if he's thrilled to have me all to himself. He has been attached to me like a barnacle all day.

Here's the note from the journal if you're curious. What an odd inscription.
