Wines That Rock

I've mentioned before that I usually pick my wines by the label design. If it's weird, pretty or different I'll pick it up. I was in the liquor store in the super market near Packards Corner when I came across rock n' roll themed wines.

How awesome are these labels! I love how they blended the wine to match the music.

It was a tough choice but I was in the mood for a white wine so I went with the Woodstock Chardonnay.

Here's the description from Wines That Rock.

"The Woodstock Chardonnay opens with an enjoyable eclectic mixture of rich pear, mineral, and papaya aromas followed by fresh flavors of Asian pear apple, citrus, and tropical fruit with great acid on the finish."

"Some other areas, they make Chardonnay that's very mute, it doesn't have a lot of expression, so they tend to throw a lot of make-up at it in the form of oak or malolactic fermentation which creates a strong buttery character. Around here, we just let the fruit shine and make very pure wine. I get a lot of Asian Pear Apple flavors out of this, certainly some tropical fruits in there as well and some great acid on the finish of this wine. It makes me think of bottled sunshine - really the idea behind this wine."

This is one tasty chardonnay. I found it very refreshing and you can really taste the hints of fruit. The Woodstock would be perfect to make a nice white sangria.

I can't wait to try some of the other wines. If you go to Wines That Rock dot com you can look up where it's sold.

Ginny's Netflix reviews. The only reviews you will ever need.

I watch a ton of Netflix. This is what happens when you don't have cable and Two and a Half Men is on your non cable channels all the time.

Here's what I've been watching

House at the End of the Street: This movie stars Jennifer Lawrence. Need I say more? Ok I probably would have stopped watching this movie if J. Law wasn't in it. It was very predictable and not scary. I was expecting scary. So pass if you don't love Jennifer Lawrence.

The Dictator: Can I write a review if I haven't finished the movie? Yes I can, it's my blog. I have about 20 minutes left. It is no Borat. The few funny moments do not make it work the watch. If you do watch I suggest doing it very drunk, then you might find it mildly entertaining.

Breaking Bad: I'm on the second season and so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm all "come on Walter! You sell that meth!" I weirdly have crushes on Hank, Walter Junior and Jesse. What is wrong with me?! Jesse is a druggie who sleeps with prostitutes! Gross. Hank is middle aged and Walter Junior is in high school. Please confirm or deny my insanity. Skyler makes me want to rip my hair out.

Pretty Little Liars: Still on season one but I'm going through it pretty fast. I put off watching this show for a long time because I thought it would be too young for me but then I saw friends on facebook and twitter singing its praises. Well thank you friends I love it. Ally was/is a major bitch. I mean she blinded a girl! Talk about family programing ABC Family.

There it is. The good the bad and the need to watch while intoxicated.

AWOLNATION excitement

I'm so excited for two reasons.

One, my brother and his family arrive tomorrow from Florida to visit. I haven't seen them since March.

Two, Derek bought surprise tickets to see AWOLNATION on Wednesday. I have been listening to their album non stop so I thought maybe I should do a little review.

If you recognize AWOLNATION it's probably for the song Sail. The beat kills it and I really like the music video.

The first thing I noticed when I listened to this album is that most of the songs don't sound like Sail. I love the other songs though so this is not a problem. I didn't even realize who the lead singer was until I heard a few other songs.

Oh you use to be in Under the Influence of Giants, well that's cool because I use to listen to UTOG.

His hair is much better now.

My new favorite song by AWOLNATION though is Burn it down. I mean it has a mermaid, ninjas - it's awesome.

The other songs I really like on this album:

Track 3: Soul Wars
Track 4: People
Track 5: Jump on my Shoulders
Track 6: Burn it Down
Track 7: Guilty Filthy Soul
Track 10: Sail
Track 12: Not Your Fault
Track 15: Shoestrings

So as you can see I like most of the songs. I can't wait for Wednesday's show!
