First snow storm of the year
I finally managed to catch up on some sleep. I wanted to head over to a friend's house last night but I was just too tired so I stayed in and relaxed with Bosco.

Derek still has a cough but he's getting better. I know he's feeling better because he made sure to purposely pester me this morning when I was trying to get ready to head to the super market. Today is the first snow storm of the year in Boston. I headed out to the super market as the snow was starting to fall. Have to stock up on the essentials like water, Smartfood popcorn and wine. I'm also making a pot roast in the slow cooker for dinner.
The supermarket was busy which is expected with an impending snow storm but it wasn't terrible. The liquor store in the supermarket is certainly doing some serious business today.

By the time I left the supermarket the snow was already picking up. It's tough to see with the snow blasting you in the face. Luckily I didn't have to wait long for the T.
The pot roast is cooking away and I can't wait to eat it for dinner later with a nice glass of red wine.

Stir crazy
I woke up to snow this morning which was a bit unexpected since my terrible weather app did not mention snow. I'm a prepared New Englander though with boots and a jacket that could double as a sleeping bag.
Clearly going to Harry's was good for my mental health.
For some reason this has felt like the longest work week, and it's a short work week to boot since I had Monday off. Derek is still sick so our usual weeknight date night did not happen this week. Luckily Fiona asked me to have dinner with her at Harry's last night. I get a little stir crazy if I don't have somewhere to go during the week. I put some money in the jukebox and someone kept paying to bump my songs. They did play eventually but I was a bit annoyed. I guess someone really wanted to hear their songs if they paid extra to bump mine. Overall it was a fun night and I was glad to get out of the house.
Just for fun I looked up the term stir crazy. Here's where it came from according to wikipedia.
"Used among inmates in prison, it referred to a prisoner who became mentally unbalanced because of prolonged incarceration. The term "stir crazy" is based upon the slang stir (1851) to mean prison. It is now used to refer to anyone who becomes restless or anxious from feeling trapped and even somewhat claustrophobic in an environment, perceived to be more static and unengaging than can any longer continue to hold interest, meaning, and value to and for them."

Happy Friday everyone. I'm excited to sleep in tomorrow.

The King lives and he comes with a pu pu platter
Can winter be done with? No! This is New England! Here's some snow.
One thing I love about Boston is the random stuff you see just walking around. Like - "here's a lion on my front steps, enjoy!"
The snow has all melted by now but I was not pleased last week. I've been checking the weather religiously for the Marathon Monday forecast. So far it's going to be low 60s and cloudy. I'll take it!
Less than a week away now.
I work near the finish line so I get to see the progress of setting up for the marathon every year.
Friday night was fun.
So was Saturday.
I was going to "take it easy" and I think I jinxed myself by saying that. I didn't know these two but started dancing with them and then when I found out they were from Waltham I asked them when they graduated and it turns out they know my cousins. I texted this picture to my cousin Lauren.
Ah Chansky's. Pretty much my favorite convince store. The employees are always playing good music and their signs are never lacking in entertainment.
Now onto Sunday Funday. Not every weekend it like this, I swear.
We went to an Elvis show at a Chinese restaurant in Weymouth. My former roommate Todd and his girlfriend are well on their way to being townies.
Derek declared that we would be the youngest people there and we were. I'm not a big Elvis fan but it was still entertaining and we ate massive amounts of Chinese food. I was in pu pu platter heaven. I feel very sorry for you if you don't have good Chinese food in you area. My brother misses it in Florida.
Speaking of my brother - he's back from Dubai! He surprised my niece and nephew and the video my SIL sent me was just so cute. This auntie got teary eyed. I can't imagine how hard it was to be apart for months.

Congratulations! I guess...
We did it Boston! Ok well mother nature did it, but we broke the record for the snowiest season on record. With yesterday's snow we hit 108.6 inches. The previous record was 107.6 inches during the 1995-1996 season. Personally I would rather not be breaking snow records. I need spring desperately for my sanity.
I'll have to eat a bit boring today so the heartburn doesn't come back but I did stuff my face Saturday so I think I can survive a day or two of boring food. I've eaten breakfast and so far so good. I'll have to hunt for a safe recipe to try for dinner. I'd like to avoid a throat volcano. So no garlic and no onion sadly but such is life.
Yesterday was a very lazy day for me. I had horrible heartburn that lasted most of the day. I had somewhat recovered by dinner time so I could enjoy Sushi Sunday. It's a bit of a Sunday tradition where Derek and I order sushi (which I'm pretty sure you figured out from our very creative title).
This guy spent most of the day sleeping on my lap or stealing my spot on the couch if I got up.

A long commute home
The snow storm yesterday hit right at rush hour. My commute home was not fun to say the least but it would have been worse if I had to drive. The roads were not plowed yet and cars were getting stuck everywhere. Once I made it home we ordered some food and watched Trailer Park Boys and Bachelorette. We also watched the cats freak out over a snow blower.
I love snow storms when I don't have anywhere to be and I can just relax. At least until it's time to dig out my car - that part I definitely do not love.

Cats are the best photobombers
So I'm trying on my new old lady sweater from Marshalls and Bosco just has to jump in there so I really look like a cat lady. Thanks!
This is my pencil case where I keep all my nail supplies. I will keep this until it falls apart.
First snow of the season!
These are my "wallpaper" pants. I love the pattern.
I got these on sale last fall from Ann Taylor Loft. You can spot me a mile away if I'm wearing these bad boys.
I bought a big bag of Cracker Jacks that promises more peanuts and a new prize. I will be very upset if the bag is lying to me. I want a giant fake plastic rings or something good like that. I will report back with my findings.

First snow and the olden days of the intetnets
First snow of the season. Most of it melted by the morning. It will probably be 70 next week because that's how mother nature rolls in New England. She rolls crazy and sometimes I wonder if she's drunk.
One positive about not having a car right now is no shoveling and no clearing my car off. Two things I dislike very much. When I'm old I'm moving to Florida. I can't even handle the cold weather now.
I'm currently reading about the "good old days" of early internet journals. I had a livejournal back in the day and I wish that I had kept in contact with some of people I knew through there. I think I had a blog at diaryland too. I learned html for that crap. I was dedicated.
To all the blogs I read now. Don't stop blogging! I'll be sad and when I'm old and all the youngsters are blogging with their eyeballs or some other weird crap I'll be like "I remember the good old days of blogger and wordpress and using your fingers to type" and then I'll be wondering whatever happened to you guys and then I'll forget what I was sad about because I'll be old and forgetful.
I think it's time to end this post before I get all teary eyed and start feeling old.
p.s. I think one of my old aim names was moonprincess. What?! My best aim name though was killerdustbunnies.
