Rainy camping trip to Sandy Pond

The camp store is getting fancy with their own "line" of spices.

It rained all day Sunday but we had plenty of food and plenty of very green flora.

Drying off

We're back from camping. A little tired, a little sunburnt and very soggy. We had good weather for Saturday and Sunday but today we woke up to pouring rain. Packing up a tent in the rain is the worst. The tent is on the porch until we can dry it out.

We had a visitor to our camp site.

Don't mind me, just walking through. My what nice floats you have!
The turkey ignored us and went on his or her way and was not seen again.

Our air mattress bit the dust. We woke up with our butts touching the ground both mornings. I also forgot my pillow which was very upsetting. I made do but I was not happy about it. I have no one to blame but myself. As you can see, I don't really rough it when camping. I need my pillow and an air mattress. No sleeping on the ground for this princess. How do people do it?

Despite Princess Ginny not having her ideal sleeping situation we had a good time.

Let's get this long weekend started!

Our office is closing early today for the long weekend so of course the day is moving at a glacial pace. Derek and I are going camping in Plymouth. I bought new sleeping bags so we'll see how those hold up. There's a chance of rain Saturday night but the weather doesn't look to bad for the weekend.

Bring on the campfire, the grilled meats and s'mores!

A Sandy Pond summer send off

Tomorrow is September people, how did that happen?! I'm glad I got one more short camping trip in.

There's a small trail at the campground and Derek and I have been saying that we were going to do it at some point and we finally did it this camping trip. It was really short but had some nice views.

I have no idea who's hat this is.

Um yep, I'm super pale. Sunblock up baby.

Last time I played washer toss I did well but it hurt my arm a bit. I think I need to pump more iron.

Uncle Scott learning cat's cradle.

Crafts for the kiddies.

Here is my free yard sale sweatshirt. I did not go to BC. It's warm and has a hood and that's all that matters. Do I look like a college kid? They are all moving back in this weekend and driving me insane.

And now gather round as Derek shows us the art of making a marshmallow stick.

We won camping with this right here guys.

The campground had a breakfast in the morning. I don't have enough pancakes in my life.

So I tried to pop a squat in the woods and peed on my shoe. Ugh gross. I'm just not good at peeing in the woods. I used the bathroom after that. I was being lazy and didn't want to walk down and so as a result of my laziness I get pee on my shoe.

Nature's wake up call

I'm back from camping. I smell like bug spray, sunscreen and campfire. There were tiny little toads everywhere probably from all the rain. I walked around carefully so I wouldn't step on them. They were about the size my fingernail.

There was a crazy bird this morning that woke me up in my tent. I have no idea what kind of bird it was but I swear it was right over my tent and was making the most obnoxious bird noises. I actually said out loud "Are you serious right now bird?!" The bird eventually moved somewhere else. Thank you bird.

I think it might be nap time but first I'd like to leave you with a photo of me from 1994 last night.

Camping at Sandy Pond

I'm back from camping and drying my tent in my living room. The cats think it's a cat fort.

The weather was a little cooler than I would have liked it to be but it was bearable. I'd rather not be sweltering camping with no fans. It rained off and on most of the weekend.

Water and beer, the essentials. You can buy beer and wine on the camp ground. I think for the Fourth of July camping trip I'm going to make sangria.

Who invited the hipster bunny? I loved these light up glasses. I also colored in a coloring book. There's something very therapeutic about coloring. My future children are probably going be like "mom, we don't want to color anymore!" I did not bring the coloring book. There was a two and a half year old camping.

I ate so much great food. We had a shrimp boil one night, corn on the cob, burgers and dogs, so many snacks and roasted marshmallows. I should probably eat a few salads this week.

Back to work tomorrow but I had a great long weekend.

Welcome to the crazy stress train. We have ice cream.

I'm off the internets for two days and Thailand is under martial law. I've been so busy at work and it's been pretty stressful. I like being busy but this is that "oh my God I will never ever get all of this done EVER" busy which is not good.

I just want ice cream all the time. Damn you warm weather and cheesecake bits in ice cream!

I'm also loving everything foliage related. I've been so deprived of green foliage this winter I think green is my current favorite color. Check back with me because my favorite color changes all the time. There will be a quiz later.

Have you ever gotten a compliment that sticks with you? In 9th grade my drama teacher used my face as an example of "lovely" high cheek bones. If you get a good one, don't ever forget it.

I've been thinking its Friday since Monday. I actually said today "thank God it's Friday" and then felt like flinging my body dramatically onto the floor when I realized it was not.

I'm going camping this weekend and I can't wait! Camping means we can kiss winter good bye, it's time for summer. I'm going to eat my weight in marshmallows and make Derek check every inch of me for ticks. Fun times everyone. Fun times.

Camping

This was quite possibly the hottest camping trip I've ever been on. Usually it's hot during the day but nice and cool at night. We had no such luck this time. We cooled off in the pond when we could but we still had a fire going at night because you can't go camping and not have a camp fire.

I was having a good time entertaining some kids. In case you were wondering Justin Bieber is out and One Direction is in. I also taught them how to do the "dead man's float" which turned into them doing dead animal impressions in the water.

And this happened

girl: what should my name be?
me: how about Kielbasa?
girl: yes I want to be called Kielbasa!

the next day

Uncle Scott: who wants kielbasa?
girl: Kielbasa's a sausage?! Hey!

I think I need a few more showers and a good nap before I feel human again but it was a fun trip.
