The balloon says so

Question.

If my birthday princess balloon is still floating two months after my birthday, does that still make me the birthday princess?

I vote yes. At least until Derek's birthday on Saturday. Then I will have to relinquish the birthday crown.

But seriously, how is this balloon still floating two months later?

And who thought a drop ceiling was a good idea in an apartment?

Whiskey Tango Pork Chop?

Here's a little photo update for you. You can get a little peek at my apartment. I would do the full tour but I need to clean more for that.

I think it might be time to toss these flowers but I'm rolling with the the whole Halloween theme here. Dead flowers can stay for a little while longer.

Psycho kitty, c'est que ce? Meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow.

Derek Made dinner tonight. He's not the biggest fan of pictures but every once in a while I can get him.

Pork chops stuffed with kielbasa. They were so good! We had some whiskey that was left from our house warming party and Derek thought maybe we could somehow cook a pork chop in it. I guess it didn't turn out so well because Derek aborted. Neither of us are whiskey drinkers so we have no idea what to do with it. Suggestions?

My mom made this quilt for me. It's been a year in the making. Well she says a year, I say it's been more like two years. Doesn't matter how long it took though because it's pretty and my mom made it for me so I plan on keeping it forever.

Also please note our blackout curtain to the right of the bed. Best thing ever! I sleep on the right side which as you can see is pretty much right where the window is. It makes all the difference in the world when you're trying to sleep in on the weekend.

I got this lipstick thinking it was more purple than it is. I don't know why but I thought Medusa (my Halloween costume) should have purple lips. Oh well, too late now and I still like it.

This was an "outtake" but it made me laugh. Demented Ginny face right here for ya. I'm kind of weirding myself out looking at it.

I don't know if onions is a solution

My building reeks of paint thinner. It's really strong in the basement and my apartment just happens to be on the first floor. I've googled solutions for this problem and the top answers seem to be cutting up onion and placing it in a bowl of vinegar or lighting candles to burn up the fumes. I'm going the candle route so my apartment smells like a freshly painted Yankee Candle store rather than a freshly painted douche.

I was creeping around my basement trying to find the source of the smell. I'm glad no one saw me because I'm sure I looked weird. Considering hiding onions down there to see if that actually works.

Deliriously yours

A room with not much of a view.

My lovely view from my apartment - a brick wall. The birds like to build nests on the fire escape though so that keeps Bosco happy.

I finally gave in last night and admitted that I have a cold. Instead of going to my friend Ashley's birthday party I curled up in bed with the kitties and Devil in the White City (a sidewalk find). I fell asleep with the tv on and woke up to Steve Guttenberg on a total gym infomercial. I always wondered what happened to him and now we know. He's exercising with Chuck Norris.

I hate staying in on a Friday night but it was nice to wake up early and not have to rush around getting ready for work.

Being an adult is hard

Bosco is doing ok despite his crystals and peeing a lot. He's being good about using the box (most of the time). Today I think he's feeling a bit better which is good because I'm sure everyone is sick of me talking about it.

So let's talk about non-kitty related things like being an adult. It's hard. I don't like it sometimes. I still call my mom to ask her stupid questions even when I know the answer. I'm pretty sure something is wrong with my gas meter. I don't know if it's a leak or what but the amount of therms I'm using has pretty much doubled and that makes no sense because I had no heat for 3 days and I have been turning my heat down. I am not looking forward to dealing with this because I feel like I just dealt with heating issues.

I hate where I live. Do not live in an old building. DO NOT. Especially if it's 100 years old.

Sometimes I wish someone would do this all for me and I wouldn't have to think about it. Bringing my cat to the vet, paying for the vet, crappy apartment issues and bills. But you know it comes with the territory. I can eat ice cream for dinner and no one will yell at me except for my doctor, but I would never admit to eating horribly to my doctor, just like how I only drink 2-3 beers a week.....

I guess what I'm trying to say is sometimes it sucks being an adult and having to deal with things but that's life and at least you can eat ice cream for dinner if you want to.

Do you have a bowling alley in your apartment?

Dear neighbors who live above me:

Do you have a bowling alley in your apartment? I mean that's pretty cool but it's a bit LOUD. And if you don't have a bowling alley what could you possibly be dropping on your floor that rolls that loudly? I'm really curious.

I'm also wondering if you're angry about your bowling because my boyfriend and I were awoken to yelling. Did someone not reset the pins? Did you loose to your friend? You must have been really upset to be yelling for almost an hour.

Really you must be having a blast. I know I am listening to all your noises. Quiet jovial in fact. I put my pillow over my head to hide my excitement for your apartment bowling. I may in fact get my broom and tap the ceiling to let you know how glad I am.

You are such an awesome neighbor. I'll miss you when I leave.

Happy bowling!

Happy early birthday to me

Tomorrow is my 29th birthday . I'm turning decrepit right before your very eyes.

I went out to celebrate last night with friends since Monday is not a good day for party times.

I forgot my camera at home so I give you crappy iphone photos instead.

I'm sure Derek will love that I posted this last picture.

I've discovered that I'm very good at squinting my eyes in photos.

When we got back to my apartment I was ready for bed but then I noticed it was a bit cold. Guess what guys? My heat isn't working again. I started crying because I cry when I get frustrated and also I was a bit intoxicated. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow. Us old ladies need our heat.

I shall leave you with a cat poem from my new cat poem book.

National Grid wants my pretend baby to freeze

I woke up around 4 a.m. freezing. My nose was cold, and when my nose is cold that means it's freezing in my book. I turn on my lamp and blind myself trying to read my thermostat. It was in the low 60s which meant my heat was not working. I felt my radiators to be sure and they were cold.

I swore a few times and grabbed my flash light to investigate.

My basement is pretty creepy. It's old and has a creepy room with a single wooden chair with that lone light bulb swinging overhead. Yea, creepy.

Every unit in my building has gas heat so there's 17 burners. I find the one for my unit and there's a notice on there from National Grid telling me they shut off my heat due to carbon buildup. I looked at the date and it was dated Sunday so this just happened. I was PISSED. Why would National Grid shut off my heat and not tell me? A phone call, a note on my door, anything would have been nice. I was not the only unit to have their heat turned off, 5 other units had their heat shut off along with mine.

I texted my landlord at 4:30 a.m. and he called me back right away. He had someone come out at 7 a.m. but as of right now it's still not fixed.

I called National Grid to ask them why they didn't inform me that they shut off my heat. Apparently they have no record of anyone going out there and the guy kept telling me that there should be a note on my door if my heat was turned off. I told him three times that there was not note on my door, only on the burner.

I lost my patience. I finally angry whispered (I was at work):

ME:  "What if I had a baby and you shut off my heat!"

National Grid Guy: "Do you have a baby?"

ME: "No...."

NGG: .....silence......

NGG: Well we didn't send anyone out there.

me+head+desk=repeat

The slip had the National Grid logo on it so someone from National Grid was there.

I finally told him never mind and hung up.

Right now I'm using a small space heater. The cats are enjoying it.

I'm hoping it will be fixed tomorrow because my pretend infant child needs heat!

Full on freakout happening here

I went down to the basement to move my laundry from the washer to the dryer. When I open the machine I was using I see someone else's clothing. I open both dryers and my clothes are also nowhere to be found. Upon closer inspection of the machine I was using my clothes were in the machine they were just covered by someone else's clothing. Not just clothing, but some dude's socks.

vomit vomit vomit vomit. I hate feet. vomit vomit vomit.

So I'm going through the machine pulling out my clothes which are covered by men's socks. I have my underwear in this wash! Now I have some dudes socks washed with my underwear. I don't even wash my own socks with my underwear.

I'm going to assume that this guy thought he was throwing his socks in with his wife or girlfriend's laundry, either that or he has a sick sick laundry fetish.

Do you not know what kind of underwear your lady wears? Wouldn't you be like "I've never seen these underwear or these pjs so I don't think these are hers." I'm so mad. I never thought I could be so mad about laundry.

OH! I just realized that I paid for this dude's sock washing! I want my $1.50 back you potentially freaky but possibly just dumb man!

Derek's response to my freakout: Apparently his girlfriend is afraid of thongs too?

#Bostonbloggers meetup. I would be the one with no makeup and wet shoes.

Last night was my third Boston Bloggers meetup. It was fun times. I always get a little nervous going into these meetups which is silly because everyone is nice and we all have something to talk about. Blogging. These are my people. They get it.

I always intend on looking nice for these meetups because people dress up and look put together. There are a lot of fashion bloggers and when I introduce myself to a fashion blogger who looks all cute I feel like I have to explain that I just came from work and I don't always look like crap, sometimes I clean up real nice. It had also rained so my hair wasn't looking so good and my shoes were wet. I didn't explain that, that would be a little much.

You've inspired me fashion bloggers, not to blog my outfits but to wear something nice to the next meetup. You wouldn't want to see my outfit everyday.

I also spoke to my neighbors who I met at the last meetup and live in my building. Turns out the person who was tampering with the bikes in the basement was this kid that runs wild in our building. I came out into the hall one day and he's spraying WD-40 all over the floor.  He's probably about 8 years old and his parents just give him tools and let him do whatever he wants. When I asked him why he was spraying WD-40 on the floor he told me it was water, it was fine. Oh ok! We haven't seen him in the halls as much. Maybe his parents actually punished him?

Now to check out all these new blogs. I feel like I should do a post of some of my favorite Boston bloggers.

Lil Weezy minus the whole rapping thing.

I'm convinced I have some sort of asthma or consumption. I'm going with consumption because I'm dramatic but also like to prepare for the worst.

I feel fine until it's time for bed. I lay down to sleep and the coughing fits start. Where have my 28 year old smoke free lungs gone? When I'm not coughing I'm wheezing. It's really quite sexy. Eventually I fall asleep but if I wake back up the whole coughing-wheezing thing starts up again.

I had the same problem this past winter and when I went to the doctor they told me it was probably some sort of allergy thing which is funny because I take so much antihistamine anyone within a square block of me should immediately stop sneezing. They gave me a script for an inhaler that cost me $60.00 and gave me heartburn. I'm not even kidding. The second I inhaled that thing my esophagus was like what the eff is this?!

I know the culprit is my apartment. It's ancient and accumulates dust like nothing I've ever seen. I had an air purifier but Bosco puked into it. There was no cleaning cat puke out of that so I tossed it. I'd like a refund on my $60.00 heartburn inhaler so I can buy a new air purifier.

One of my co-workers suggested I rub eucalyptus on my feet and put socks on and go to bed. I think I'm going to look into getting a new air purifier because knowing me I will kick off the socks in my sleep and end up with eucalyptus all over myself.

UPDATE: Last night was much better. Maybe it was that snake tonic I drank. Cures everything I hear.
